Town of Frederick Public Works Facility

Over the past decade, the Frederick Public Works Department has experienced rapid growth, outgrowing its current facility. With continued expansion anticipated, the town of Frederick sought to develop a new campus that would accommodate the department’s needs for at least the next 50 years, ensuring it could handle future growth.

The new 10-acre campus plan includes three main buildings: offices/shops, fleet maintenance, and vehicle storage. Additionally, the campus features a fuel island, salt shed, decant facility, covered parking, chemical storage, large materials storage, and a demonstration garden.

LOCATION: Frederick, CO
CLIENT: Town of Frederick
SCOPE: 72,000 SF New Facility
COST: $38 Million
COMPLETED: Estimated 2027

The town required that the campus have a civic appearance, reflecting the unique character of Frederick. To achieve this, materials and colors are consistent across the campus, despite the mix of conventional and pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) types used throughout.

Extensive studies were conducted to explore site circulation options and determine the most efficient layout of spaces, ensuring optimal functionality and accessibility for the department’s operations.

Due to scheduling constraints, the project will be constructed in two phases with a final completion date expected in mid 2027.
