Prospect Sports (Unbuilt Design)

Prospect Sports was envisioned as a vibrant, community‑serving facility that elevates local training opportunities while fitting seamlessly into its established neighborhood context. Though unbuilt, the project represents a thoughtful response to regional demand, site constraints, and the desire for accessible, high‑quality athletic spaces.

The facility is an unbuilt concept for a new basketball and volleyball training venue designed to address the growing shortage of indoor court space in Northern Colorado. Envisioned as a community‑oriented training hub, the project balances athletic performance needs with social, nutritional, meeting, and coaching support.

Planned as an infill development on a narrow, undeveloped corner lot, the site presented significant physical constraints that shaped the design. Despite the tight footprint, the program accommodates full‑size courts, a public café, and supporting amenities. The facility is conceived as a membership‑based training center, intentionally scaled for middle‑ and high‑school athletes.

The building’s organization centers on a set of sunken gym spaces: a central competitive court with spectator seating, flanked by two practice courts. A cafe and meeting room will serve both athletes and the broader community. Turnstiles at the entry streamline access and support the membership model.

A defining feature of the design is the use of color as identity and wayfinding. Each court is assigned a distinct color palette—orange, green, and blue—supported by a restrained material palette of warm wood and neutral finishes. Exterior materials are carried inside to create continuity and a cohesive architectural language.
